Plans for the section of Maunganui Road from Tui Street to Hull Road are being drafted, says Tauranga City Council.
"Local business owners and the local community will be contacted for input and feedback as and when draft plans are available," says a council spokesperson.
Work on Maunganui Road is paused for this next week of Monday, May 29, which means no traffic impacts are anticipated.
"As the changes are embedding well, trees have now been installed and are adding to the new look of the area,' says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.
"Grass has been seeded and as soon as the finishing touches are in, cones will be removed."
Speed has been a long-standing concern on Maunganui Road which impacts on the safety of cyclists and pedestrians.
Safety improvements and road upgrades between Hinau Street and Sutherland Avenue aim to create a calmer, more predictable environment, significantly boosting safety for everyone who travels through the area.
Remaining work to be completed in this section of Maunganui Road includes:
- Replacement of the temporary painted roundabout at Hinau Street intersection with a permanent dome.
- Lifting of the shared path south of the roundabout at Sutherland Avenue.
- Planting of further greenery.
